Why Fall Might Be the Best Time to Visit Moonlit Canopy

There’s something about fall in Manitoba that makes us want to slow down.

The mornings are crisp, the evenings arrive a little earlier, the trees begin to change colour, and suddenly curling up with a coffee or soaking in a hot tub feels even better than it did a few weeks before.

It might just be our favourite time of year at Moonlit Canopy.

The Trees Put on a Show

Moonlit Canopy is tucked among the oak trees at Pleasant Valley, and once fall arrives, the landscape completely changes.

Greens turn to golds, oranges and deep autumn tones, leaves crunch beneath your feet, and the view from inside the dome feels a little different every day.

One of our favourite parts of the domes has always been the large panoramic window. In fall, you can sit inside with your morning coffee and still feel surrounded by the outdoors—without giving up the warmth and comfort of being inside.

Hot Tub Weather Is Officially Here

There really isn’t a bad time for a private hot tub, but cooler weather might be the best time.

Each of our three domes has its own hot tub on the deck, tucked into the trees. When the evening air turns chilly, there is something pretty wonderful about climbing into warm water, looking up through the branches and realizing you have nowhere else you need to be.

No schedule. No traffic. No rushing.

Just stay awhile.

Cozy Inside, Wild Outside

Fall gives you the best of both worlds at Moonlit Canopy.

Spend part of the day outside exploring Pleasant Valley or Pelican Lake, then come back to a dome with a king-sized bed, full bathroom, kitchenette, comfortable living space and cozy gas fireplace.

Make dinner. Open a bottle of wine. Play cards. Read the book you keep saying you’re going to finish.

Sometimes the best part of getting away is having very little planned.

Go for a Walk—or Don’t

You can absolutely fill your stay with things to do.

Take a walk, explore the surrounding area, head over to Pelican Lake or spend some time discovering Southwest Manitoba.

But you also have our permission to do absolutely nothing.

Fall naturally seems to slow everything down, and Moonlit Canopy is a pretty good place to follow its lead.

Sleep in.

Have another coffee.

Take an afternoon nap.

Get back into the hot tub.

Watch the light change through the trees.

A Little Quieter

Summer in Manitoba always seems to fly by. Calendars fill up with weddings, lake weekends, sports, camping trips and family commitments.

Fall feels different.

It’s an opportunity to sneak away after the rush of summer and before the busy holiday season begins.

A couple of nights away can feel surprisingly restorative—especially when you don’t have to catch a flight or spend an entire day travelling to get there.

What Should You Bring?

Fall weather in Manitoba can change quickly, so layers are always a good idea.

Bring comfortable shoes or boots, a warm sweater or jacket, your bathing suit for the hot tub and groceries for your stay.

Then add the things you never seem to make time for at home: a favourite book, a board game, a deck of cards or maybe nothing at all.

We’ll take care of the rest.

Come See Fall From the Trees

Moonlit Canopy was created as a place to escape, recharge and reconnect—with nature, with the people you love and sometimes simply with yourself.

Fall seems to make that a little easier.

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to plan a couple of quiet nights away, this might be it.

Come for the colours. Stay for the hot tub. Leave feeling a little more rested than when you arrived.
